About this workshop: This course is intended for people who have already undertaken the Introduction to Version Control with Git or have equivalent experience. It will be assumed you are familiar with basic Git concepts including the workflow for adding, commiting, pushing and pulling files to a repository and basic use of remote repositories such as Github or Gitlab. This lesson will cover a short recap of the introductory lesson and then look at forking/branching, remote repositories, merging branches, advanced logging, how to identify which commit introduced a bug, undoing changes, using git tags, issue tracking and publishing code to Github and a repository such as Zenodo.

Who can attend?: This workshop is open to all staff and students from the National Oceanography Centre. Limited numbers are available for other organisations who collaborate with the National Oceanography Centre.
Where: This training will take place online. The instructors will provide you with the information you will need to connect to this meeting.

To participate in a workshop, you will need access to software as described below. In addition, you will need an up-to-date web browser.

If you haven't used Zoom before, go to the official website to download and install the Zoom client for your computer.
Like other Carpentries workshops, you will be learning by "coding along" with the Instructors. To do this, you will need to have both the window for the tool you will be learning about (a terminal, RStudio, your web browser, etc..) and the window for the Zoom video conference client open.
