General Information

About this workshop: This course is intended for people who have developed basic skills in Python programming. You are expected to have practised these over at least a few months and now want to move to the next step in software development. This course teaches some intermediate software engineering skills and best practices to help you restructure existing code and design more robust, reusable and maintainable code, automate the process of testing and verifying software correctness and support collaborations across teams.

Who can attend?: This workshop is open to all staff and students from the National Oceanography Centre. Limited numbers are available for other organisations who collaborate with the National Oceanography Centre.

Requirements: Participants must bring a laptop which can connect to the Eduroam or NOCstaff wifi. All attendees will receive an account on the NOC Data Science Platform where all required software will be pre-installed. Anybody wishing to install the software on their laptop should follow the setup instructions below.
